Despite the hype and buzz, traditional decentralised application platforms (like Ethereum) have universally failed to produce ‘killer’ applications with broad market appeal. It is notable that Ethereum’s most successful application is about trading images of cute, imaginary cats. Ethereum’s market capitalisation sits at $45.3bn at time of writing.
At the Archain project, we believe that mass-market appeal will be the key to growth and adoption of decentralised application platforms. It is with that in mind that we are proud to present the alpha of the second major application built on top of the Archain network: ‘ArchiveIt!’ (working title). ArchiveIt! provides zero fuss, permanent file archiving and recall facilities, at low cost. Simply drag and drop a file that you want to archive onto the app, then retreive it at any time with the click of a button.
ArchiveIt! is designed for both you and your least tech savvy friend, alike. Powered by the Archain, ArchiveIt! provides true information permanence (once the main network is live) through an extremely simple and effective user interface. We have attempted to build the application such that every piece of functionality is accessible within two clicks.
We hope that the simplicity of ArchiveIt!, and it’s instantly applicable functionality will help to demonstrate the flexibility, depth and intrinsic usefulness of the Archain project as an application platform.
You can download the ALPHA version of ArchiveIt! for Windows and Linux (Mac OS coming soon!) below:
Please note: Uploaded files are not currently encrypted. File encryption will be optional in future releases. Please do not use the ArchiveIt! alpha to store any personal or confidential information.
Remember: Archain test networks are occasionally reset — please do not use the test network for serious archiving before the main network has launched.
Backers will be able to use their test network keys to try out this alpha. There are still many features and UI changes to make before ArchiveIt! is production-ready. Please give it a go and let us know your feedback!
