[Hackathons]

We recently teamed up with GitCoin to sponsor the Grow Ethereum hackathon where we set some DApp specifications, with a prize pool of $3,200. Here are the winners:

Crowdfunding DApp
Prize: $1,600 in ETH

ArFund is a 100% decentralised crowdfunding platform that utilises Ethereum and Arweave for unstoppable crowdfunding [works with MetaMask].

ENS + Arweave
Prize: $1,600 in ETH

Winner: Acolytec with ArwENS

ArwENS is a one-stop shop for registering ENS domain/subdomains, storing text or web pages on Arweave, and then linking your newly minted ENS domain to your Arweave content.

[New on the permaweb]

Here are some highlights of the awesome new apps built on the permaweb:

📋 PermaPaste
With PermaPaste, you can store, share and edit public or private plain text ascii, and markdown documents on the Arweave Permaweb. Store pastes publicly or encrypted, using a password or secret link to encrypt the page. It’s also mobile friendly!

🤝 HiringChain

HiringChain is a simple hiring Dapp on the Arweave blockchain. It’s a great place to search for blockchain and cryptocurrency jobs to get hired, or hire people in a completely decentralised manner.

Explore what people are building by heading over to Arweave Apps!

[Community spotlight]

As the permaweb ecosystem continues to grow, we’re super excited to see the influx of awesome apps being built by our community. In our recent Community Spotlight series, we got to know a little more about the people behind the hacking and learn what motivates them to join, build, and share their creations within the permaweb. Head over to our blog to find interviews with Ros of Hotdog Rhythm Station, Cedrik of ArweaveApps, Weaver & Arweave Archive, Lyner who built family tree platform Adam, and Kostiantyn the creator of HiringChain.

If you’re a permaweb developer and would like to take part in our upcoming community spotlight series, drop us a line!

Arweave N.1.8.0.0 is now live! New features include:

- Multiple transactions per wallet, per block
- Increased transaction size from 3MB to 10MB
- Linear difficulty: leading to a more stable block time

In August, the Arweave community became even more active on the permaweb 🚀🚀🚀

Monthly data upload grew by 216% and almost reached 15 GB

Number of community transactions increased by 165% compared to July

(we track these community numbers excluding all the team transactions)

Next Generation Blockchains: Which Advancements Should We Be Eyeing? With the blockchain industry moving at an expotential pace, CryptoDaily discusses some of the most notable examples of projects that are playing a leading role in the development of next generation blockchains — including Arweave.

[Berlin Blockchain Week]

The Arweave team were out and about at Berlin Blockchain Week this month attending numerous events, hosting workshops and speaking on discussion panels. The week kicked off with MetaCartel, as Kyle & Sam hosted a workshop along with Fluence. Following on from Edward Snowden at the Web3 summit, Sam was moderating the decentralised storage panel joined by Fluence and MaidSafe. The rest of the week saw various talks and workshops hosted by Techstars, 1kx and DappCon, while Sam was also among the judges of ETHBerlin. Stay tuned for upcoming footage of the events!

See you on the permaweb!
