The First Archain App Competition

Have you got an idea for a killer app driven by information permanence? Are you driven by cutting edge blockchain technologies? Are you interested in building an app on top of a live feed of history?

Well, take note. In this blogpost we are proud and very excited to announce the first Archain Application Development contest. Developers will compete for an investment pool of 250,000 ARC and $10,000 to kick-start their Archain app idea into a fully fledged business!

Using Archain’s App Developer Toolkit (ADT), developers can easily build and run custom nodes in the Archain network. Archain apps receive a constant, hand-collated stream of historically important information. This data can be used to support a broad range of applications, stretching from automated stock traders, to uncensorable social networks. Archain apps are not only deeply flexible and powerful, but are also extremely easy to write in either Erlang or Elixir.

We see this competition as the perfect opportunity to spread the word about Archain while providing a platform and motivation for interested developers to get hands on experience building with Archain’s Permanence as a Service features.

The investment pool of $10,000 will be split among the best submissions in terms of idea and implementation. Should you be deemed a winner, Archain will offer you a prize in exchange for a 6% stake of equity in the resulting business — meaning that you would have a direct line to us, the Archain dev team, in order to help develop your app further. The ARC prizes will also allow developers to fuel their apps in the early stages.

Full details and rules will be announced next week — look out for a post here on Medium!

As always, for questions and comments you can reach us on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook or email the team.
